Review & Description
Auto power offProfessionals can now have a full-featured digital clamp-on meter at an affordable price, with the Extech EX730 True RMS 800-Amp AC/DC Clamp Meter. The ergonomically designed, double-molded housing gives you a better grip for one-handed operation with total comfort. The EX730 will measure AC current, AC/DC voltage, frequency, resistance, capacitance, diode, and continuity. The True RMS feature means the meter can correct for distortion from electronic devices. And the included Type K bead wire probe allows temperature to be measured. The large, high-contrast, backlit LED display makes readings easy to see.

The Extech EX730 offers multiple meter functions in one device, allowing service technicians to carry only one meter into the field instead of several. The EX730 will measure both AC and DC current up to 800 amps with a maximum resolution of 0.01 amps. It also measures AC/DC voltage, frequency, resistance, capacitance, diode, and continuity. The wide-opening, 1-1/2-inch circular jaw fits around cables up to 500 MCM. The Extech also features DC Zero and Peak Hold, which measures inrush currents and other surges. The 1-millisecond response time is fast enough to pinpoint transience that can trip circuit breakers or blow fuses.
Type K Bead Wire Probe for Measuring Temperature
The included Type K bead wire probe is ideal for checking air conditioners, refrigerators, motors, bearings, pumps, and many other devices that emit heat. Temperature can be measured from -4 to 1,400 degrees Fahrenheit (-20 to 760 degrees Celsius).

The EX730 features a large, high-contrast display with bright backlit LEDs, making it easy to read even in low light conditions. The meter also features a data hold function that "freezes" data in the display for longer viewing. Its auto power-off function will help preserve the life of your batteries.
For additional comfort, the EX730's ergonomically designed, double-molded housing offers a comfortable grip for one-handed operation. Though it weighs only 2 pounds, it's rugged enough to stand up to constant use.
True RMS Prevents Distortion from Electronic Devices
It can be very difficult to make accurate current and voltage readings in industrial and commercial applications when electronic devices are present. Fluorescent lights, motor drives, computer power supplies, and other electronic systems can distort the AC waveform, making it hard for averaging meters to get an accurate read. True RMS uses a more advanced formula to compensate for this kind of distortion.
Product and Warranty Information
This device measures 9 by 3-1/10 by 1-9/10 inches (H x W x D). It uses one 9-volt battery.
The Extech EX730 True RMS 800-Amp AC/DC Clamp Meter is backed by a manufacturer's one-year limited warranty on parts and labor.
What's in the Box
Meter, test leads, 9-volt battery, temperature probe, belt holster, carrying case, and owner manual.
